Lastly, mixed media artists may be interested in the rich and striking pictures of sea life. I can highly recommend this book to elementary school teachers and parents of homeschoolers. There is also an important story that teaches morals. Your child will learn the importance of oysters purifying water. We have witnessed seabirds diving for food, smelled the fishy salt water and have gone 'shelling'. We live in Florida and have been to both the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. I would suggest the 4-10 year old age group as the ideal range.Īs I have mentioned previously, OLLY'S TREASURE is a learning tool. We not only looked for character(s) mentioned on each page but he also picked out other sealife and either told me what it was or wanted to know the name (fish, snail, shell, etc). Colorful and descriptive, it reminded me somewhat of a "Where's Waldo?" picture book that was in vogue years ago. On the young side, I had to read and go back and forth between pages so he could find the characters we were talking about. My oldest grandson will turn four in a few weeks and he enjoyed this book when I read it to him. OLLY'S TREASURE is a wonderful book to introduce young children to oceanic life.
